Baltus Communications organises a ‘European City Breaks Press Event’ for the 4th time in 2015
Travel PR-agency Baltus Communications will again organise the ‘European City Break Press Event’ in 2015 for cities that wish to market themselves as an ideal city break destination to travel press. Besides cities in Europe, low-cost airlines, railway companies, hotel chains, travel guide publishers and several non-European destinations such as Istanbul, New York, Dubai and Marrakech will be invited to participate as well. The announcement has been sent to our city database to inform all parties in due time, giving them enough time to include this event in their 2015 Marketing and PR plans. The thematic event will be held in Amsterdam. After the summer the participation mailing will be sent out with the announcement of the location, date and participation price. Further information via [email protected] or via phone number +31 (0) 70 265 21 23.
Successful formula
‘The European City Break Press Event’ concept has proved to be very successful and puts to an end the 'I-want-a-press-event-for-my-city-only attitude that characterises the travel industry’, according to Marcel Baltus, organiser of the event. ’Although I can understand that lots of companies and destinations in the travel industry want their own event, in today’s media environment this is becoming impractical and inefficient. It is just too time-cosuming for media to visit the hundred-and-one workshops and media functions that are being organised in Holland and Belgium.’ Hosting an event at which a large number of cities and other relevant travel companies can meet with print and online media on one day and in one place is much more efficient and effective.
1.5 billion turnover
In total there are 3.1 million Dutch city trip takers who spend a total amount of 1.5 billion euro in this particular travel segment. 72 percent stays in a hotel during the trip. Partially because the economy is growing – the Nederlandsche Bank expects a growth of 1.6 percent in 2015 – next year seems like an advantageous moment for city marketing organisations, tour operators and airline companies to seduce the holiday maker with a weekend away. Baltus: ‘We hope that our press day will be helpful in realizing this .’
Upcoming city break destinations
Not only capital cities in Europe have been approached but also upcoming city break destinations and relatively lesser known cities. Cities such as London, Paris, Berlin, Barcelona and Prague will remain very popular but a growing number of other cities also start to participate in this particular travel segment. Cultural European Capitals of 2015, Mons in Belgium and Pilsen in the Czech Republic, are approached as well.
