This award has been initiated in 2007 to honour the late Dutch travel writer Aad Struijs. Each year an independent jury awards this price to the writer of the best Dutch travel story. Baltus Communications has been a sponsor for several years. Traditionally the Aad Struijs Persprijs is awarded during the trade day of De Vakantiebeurs which this year took place on Tuesday 13 January. De Vakantiebeurs attracted over 117.000 visitors.
